Article Summary

Shows VS Performances - Which to use and when

Festival Pro has two ways to schedule artists to a stage time. There are Performances, these are generally set using the Festival Calendar and Shows, set using the Shows Calendar

A Performance is best used when one artist is doing a particular show at a set time. For example Band A are on Stage B at XYZ Time.  There isn't a way to add extra individuals to this performance.

The Shows calendar is best thought of as a bucket. You create a show (Bucket), then put people into the show. This is best used when you need to add multiple artists or contacts to a performance. You can add non-artists to a Show, such as crew. As a shows calendar is designed to be used to manage speakers, discussion panels, or contacts who may in many different shows, it will show conflicts if you try to schedule two contacts at the same time. The festival calendar does not pick up conflicts as it is designed to be for bands or groups who are on a single or handful of shows.

The Shows Calendar and Festival Calendar are separate pages and you cannot combine the views, however an artist can be assigned both a Performance AND a Show and these will still show up on the Advance and the Artist Schedule
